Lydia Lizano is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with a Master’s Degree of Marriage and Family Therapy and a specialization in Medical Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Over the past 20 years, Lydia has worked extensively in a variety of settings including but not limited to, private practice, group practice, and on-line counseling. Lydia specializes in giving her client’s the skills and tools necessary to balance the demands of external responsibilities along with internal self-care practices. Lydia is also a Certified Yoga and Meditation Instructor and she is able to merge both Eastern and Western Philosophies of care into her treatment plan, which include mindfulness practices as a means of attaining a greater sense of personal peace. In her work with clients and students, Lydia uses a mixture of yoga psychology styles and mindful breathing, allowing clients and students to find Peace, Love, and Compassion in their personal growth journey with the ultimate goal of living life to their fullest potential. The conference presentation “Mindfulness for Mental Health Professionals” focuses on giving therapists in the helping professions, empowering personal tools to be able to view their work-related stressors in a more calming way, and highlights how that more centered level of awareness, extends out into their personal and family life as well.
